Teochews to Sua1 Tao1
Muslims to Mecca. Catholics to Vatican. Chye to Anfield.
The day has come for me to make my pilgrimage. In slightly more than 12 hours' time, I will be on liverpool soil.
The main reason why I chose to come France - which I didn't tell MOE - is to place myself nearer to Anfield. I was always going to visit Liverpool within these 2 years but I didn't expect the day to come so soon.
Guan's exchange in Manchester changed my plans. He has a room (read: floor) near Liverpool waiting for me and the money that I will be saving on accommodation will go to paying for the exhorbitant ticket for the Bordeaux match from outside the stadium.
Nothing has been planned for the trip except that I've booked our stadium visit on 2 Nov at 2pm, 4 hours before our flight back to Paris. My brother visited Anfield about 4 years back and according to his ex-girlfriend, he got on his knees and planted a kiss on the Anfield grass. To better him, I'm intending to pluck a bunch of the grass to eat, to bring a part of Anfield back to Paris with me=)
I have yet to pack my bag but there are a few things that are certainly making the trip with me. Ranked as equally important as my passport, the 2005 Champions' League Winners t-shirt. Kaixin (of 02s22 pedigree) bought her for me from Anfield last year and I'll be bringing her back to where she came from.
And the second thing going into my bag will be the UK (not CK) underwear.
My mother bought a set of countrys' underwear for me before I departed Singapore. The UK underwear above is one of them and I have one bearing the French flag too. The UK underwear is still a bit wet (washed it yesterday morning but the autumn weather doesn't make for good drying conditions) so I'll be bringing to Guan's room to continue the drying process=)
And of course, camera, sleeping bag and a green apple for munching on the train tomorrow. This is serving as my packing list.
My childhood dream is going to be fulfilled soon and my feelings are mixed. It's like watching Prison Break - I want to know the ending but I doesn't want it to end. But end it will and come 10.55am British time tomorrow, I will be at John Lennon breathing liverpool air.
We'll never walk alone.
