happy without lights
I haven't been posting much and it's probably because I feel like I'm having difficulty churning out blog posts. In France, my main languages of communication are chinese and french. Chinese to the PRCs, french to the french. Only person I speak english to is yeejia but we don't see each other that often since she's in paris and I'm in champs-sur-marne. We do talk almost everyday on the phone these days though.
I'm starting to watch Prison Break and I feel like I'm getting back my english. It was like back to the OC days in hall when I feel like I can speak better english everytime I finish watching one episode. My internet is finally up (don't have to depend on the unstable wireless anymore) and I'm getting connected to my school's network, which has a peer-to-peer programme that facilitates pirating. That's where I'm getting my movies nowadays.
I did not get my Prison Break from the p-to-p though. Prison Break, I got it by chance, from a french senior who happened to drop by my residence because he wanted to transfer to my friend his american drama serials. And because my friend's comp denied access to his portable harddisk, I lent my friend my portable harddisk for transfer and that was how I got the Break. You probably don't understand how I ended up with the Break but basically, it's by a hell lot of coincidence and I'm glad coincidences exist. I watched 6 episodes today and I'm gg for another 2 more tonight. It's that addictive. I would say it's even better than OC because it has a more intelligent plot but I wouldn't say so because it's missing Marrisa.
I'm feeling good now even though my room light and my kitchen light just died on me. I just read PTW's blog and saw shaopeng's post on Mingjie's fish. Haven't watched the video yet, but just seeing the title brought a smile to my face. I wanted to blog on Mingjie on 3 Oct because it was his birthday but procrastination buried the post. Nonetheless, it's interesting how some friends are never forgotten even though contact has been lost since long.
I read tat's post too on Mafbrothers. To be honest, I was only half-way through when I scrolled down to see how long it was. Smart move I made because the post is as long as my senior's project report and it would probably take me the same amount of time to read the post as I would take to watch an episode of Prison Break. Tat probably won't appreciate that I didn't finish reading his post but I promise I'll be back later tonight to complete reading it, so that his efforts aren't wasted. All posts deserve a read till the end no matter its length.
Anyway, tat was writing about his considerations abt taking up the Sheares' Hall rag com-chair position. Or maybe he had decided and was only trying to convince the rest to join him in the committee. He listed down the benefits and the drawbacks of joining rag. Apparently, that's what many people do when they make decisions - compare the benefits and the drawbacks. That was what got my senior to France. He had calculated that he should be able to make more money in the future if he comes to France. Of course, he might have miscalculated.
For me, I just thought that if I did not choose to come to France when IRO had accepted my application, I would definitely regret it in the future. That was how I made my decision. If I knew I was going to regret it if I don't do something, then I would do the thing. That's my philosophy of the week.
