start time: 10:43 end time: 11:33 => not quickie
I am back with a quickie before I zip off to probability. Decided that if I can push the readership to 777 by 2pm french time tomorrow, then liverpool will win man u, alonso's tyre will pun-jek and schumacher will retire with style.
haha...I can already see the sian diao faces of yaohui, shaopeng and quek who turn up at the blog only to realise that they are helping to fulfill liverpool's ambition. but you're doing schumacher a favour too and i tink he'll need lots of luck after what happened to his engine problem today. I'm really hoping something special will happen and that he can bow out of the game in spectacular fashion.
anyway, i need to spend a sat nite doing probability because the way they teach it here is realli different from the way we learn in singapore. In singapore, we're told that probability is the chance of something happening. Here, they tell you it's an injection from a vector space to [0,1]. see the difference. one is for man, the other is for french.
next week, i'm gg to do a presentation on liberalism with lida for our social science module. We're supposed to read an article and summarize it for our class. The presentation will constitute 40% of mark. Good luck to us man. I read the article until 3 yesterday and still don't quite get the gist. But I came up with a brilliant idea today, that we will present our summary in the form of a sketch, and hopefully in the midst of making ourselves stupid and making the tutor laugh, he will forget abt our broken french and our lack of content and give us some good grades. This mtd is generally termed, 'smoking'.
one question bugging me this week was if I should cut my hair before I go liverpool. I have decided not. I have decided that I should arrive in Beatle's town with my beatles' hair. So even though I might look shitty with the overgrown hair, they shall remain in position at least till post-liverpool. Anyway, the tickets for liverpool-bordeaux match has been sold out so not much chance of me getting my virgin anfield experience on the 31st oct. I'm keeping my fingers crossed though, that if I walk around liverpool with my eyes glued to the ground, maybe God will drop me a tic.
I am doing programming here in france, C++. It's been one of the more entertaining lessons because we get to create games like tennis and mastermind. And the tutor is gentil(=nice) too. Yesterday, he came to class with a sweater, which has 'Princeton' imprinted on the front. That gave me thoughts that he must be quite zai because Serene was from Princeton and so was Ruby Pan. I hate to judge people from their school but i can't help but equate princeton to zai. And so I popped the question, when Lida, Guoqing and I went to look for him at his office in the afternoon to retrieve a daemon-driven version of microsoft visual, if he had been to Princeton. He blabbered in french that he was there for a year doing internship and stuff and he concluded with a statement which I didn't quite catch. So i said to him, 'Quoi?' which is 'What?' And he repeated slowly and this time, I heard him perfectly. Translatedly, he said, 'There is only one thing that I am waiting for now, and it's to return to Princeton'.
What he said gave me a special kind of feeling...something close to gan dong. It's like the feeling you get when someone shares with you his meng4 xiang4 and you're happy for him because he knows what he's looking for in life. Then after that, you think about yourself. Gan dong turns to self-pity.
What was supposed to be a quickie has taken too long. Time to hit probability.
