CS - go, go, go...fire in the hole!
For those of you who have been following faithfully the chatterbox on this blog - and that probably includes only jiahao, jiap and anonymous - I have been offered an internship with Credit Suisse as a quantitative intern in London from June to December. After having been rejected previously by JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs, and not even being granted an interview with UBS and Deutsch Bank, I felt a sense of relief more than a sense of joy - joy came later - when I received the call on Tuesday evening informing me that I have been accepted by Credit Suisse.
I was initially skeptical when I received the call from Credit Suisse. I previously thought that all companies reject their applicants through emails and they only bother to call you if you have been successful in your application. But Goldman Sachs shattered that stereotype. They rejected me over the phone. In fact, they gave me a miss call, so I called back thinking that I must have been accepted, only to have my hopes crushed by the HR lady informing me that I was not. She was even kind enough to give me an evaluation of my interview performance and in doing so, though she didn't mean it, used up my handphone credit. The quality of customer service was elevated to a whole new level by Goldman Sachs.
Today, I received an email from a financial technology service firm that I had also applied internship for, informing me that my application has been successful. They offered me a place at Barcelona. Suddenly, I feel very much in demand...haha...
In any case, barring any major calamity, I should be spending the second half of 2008 in London, which is what I have been hoping to do. The possibility of dropping by Anfield for another match before Liverpool moves house is too much a temptation=)
