Rag
Not tat, not junsheng, not chio, not kaiyuan. It's chye here attempting a post on rag from faraway france...haha got to make this clear from the beginning so that you would not exclaim at the end of the post 'wat the fuck' is chye writing abt rag when he is 12 hours aeroplane hours away.
It was only 2 hours after rag had ended that I learnt that KR had swept most (or was it all?) of the awards at Rag this year. NUSSU is getting pretty efficient these days. They had an update on the Rag results posted on NUS website with near livescore-efficiency almost immediately after Rag.
It was written that KR had won with a 'trian time-travel' concept and that concept sounded vaguely familiar. Tot I had heard it somewhere before. While reading the article, I was holding out hope that perhaps, they had made a typo with the name of the winning hall. The photo of people draped in blue, and not orange, celebrating confirms it all. KR had won.
I share the disappointment with most shearites for losing out this year. And also chio and kaiyuan, who probably would be disappointed with not being able to make the grand exit that even I had wanted when I left hall. 'Saving the last dance' for Sheares is a romantic notion, no?
But consistency is a pretty damn tough thing to achieve...so (you would have to give it up to me for remaining consistently a procrastinator year in year out) it was a difficult task to start out with to emulate the 'highs' of 2005. You go in with high expectations and most of the times, you'll end up insatisfied. Go in with no expectations and you'll be left with surprises. We all know this...the 'bluecrush phenomenon'.
I had read one of weijie's posts that 'cruxified' shaokai's brother. haha...k, 'cruxified' is too harsh a word, it's more like denouncing him for wanting to join hall but not wanting to do anything for hall. And before I left, I'd heard more than a few times kaiyuan lamenting the lack of hall spirit, the lack of eagerness among shearites to contribute.
Changes take time. It's when people want to accelerate changes that nasty things like genocide occurs but that's another issue altogether. Knowing that changes take time, you wouldn't be too discouraged when you don't see the desired result. As long as you see that there's a minor change in the right direction, you've made a difference.
Fuck myself for writing an uninspiring paragraph that was meant to be thought-provoking. Anyway, that was meant more for myself than for you...to remind myself not to be too discouraged when I teach next time and the students don't seem to be inpired...haha..
Now for something real cool. My ex CT rep had one of his photographs (not of him, but one he took) published in an article on STOMP. What is more amazing is that Singapore's golden son, Fandi Ahmad's photo was in the same article as his. Pls see link below:

I am so proud of him and I would like to share my joy with you guys...although I remain deeply skeptical that he's actually looking forward to see his future sons enter NS...haha
Welcome back, raggers. Now bring on the posts!
