Ran
The Paris Marathon was held last Sunday. I had wanted to take part in it, partly because I wanted to earn a 'This man completed 42.195km in Paris' T-Shirt - which I admit was superficious of me - but mostly inspired by the many marathons The Permed One completed when he was in US. An old photo, like the one below, that still draws laughter doesn't hurt.
In fact, I wanted to take part in the marathon so much I even had in mind how I wanted to blog about the event after the run. It would have gone something like this...
'Le Chye ran an historical race at the Paris Marathon last Sunday. He completed the distance in a truly amazing time of 3 hours 7 mins and 22s longer than what took his friend, M. Poh Weijie to finish the Philadephia Open...'
But as my friend Procrastus once again managed to convince me, I only tried signing up for the race online in Febuarary. By then, the deadline for registration was already over. However, even if I had visited the website before the deadline, I probably wouldn't have signed up for it because the registration fee was at that time 80euros. Early bird registration was only 35 or 40euros and I wouldn't want to be running in the marathon knowing that I could have been running in it for half the price. Moreover, 80euros, I would rather spend it to watch a Liverpool match from the last row of the Main Stand in Anfield than to make myself puff for 6 hours and then suffer in bed for the next 2 weeks because of acute muscle ache, which I know all too well about from my 42.195km experience in Singapore few years back.
Anyway, my favourite French blogger was at the race last Sunday. He took a few photos there and I have bravely ran the risks - since I couldn't run the race - of being accused of plagiarism for your viewing pleasure.
**Some minutes before the start**
**Always some minutes before the start**
**Top start. Imagine there are 40000 behind these people**
**Eiffel Man**
**Some seconds after the start**
P.S. If you think the captions are a bit incogruent englishly, that's because I have translated them literally from their original french captions. Which brings me to the topic that I just helped a friend to do his Chinese homework last weekend, but which I will leave for another post another day. One more day to end of school term.
