To the occupants of my room from the 27th - 31st Dec
Dear Weijie, Chio, Summer, Fangxi and Caiping,
If everything goes to plan, you will be reading this in front of Jiaxin's mac on the 27th December around 1030 am.
I'm sorry that The Living Guide to Paris - that's me...haha - won't be around to show you around town. Thus, to make up for my absence, I shall leave you a list of essentiel things to do while in Paris. I have only 20 minutes to do this so I'm going to keep it real concise.
1. Slow walk from the Lourve to the Arc de Triomphe or from the Arc de Triomphe to the Lourve. The walk would bring you past the Obilisk and down Champs-Elysee and there would be many nice spots for photos.
2. See Eiffel from Trocadero, which I personally think is where you would get the best view of Eiffel...then walk under Eiffel and see it through the Wall of Peace, which was where this photo of Guan was taken.
3. Go to Angelina for a cup of hot chocolate and pastries. It's situated at 220 plus Rue de Rivoli near the Lourve and there's always a queue. And how can Singaporeans resist not joining in a queue?=)
4. Go to catacombs at Denfert Rochereau if you have the time. Not many people who come Paris visit that place so all the more, you should go there.
5. Don't return before midnight. Paris is much more beautiful at night. But it's winter now, so I'm not sure if her beauty is worth the cold.
6. If you're intending to see Lisa and Venus, don't try to see everything else in the lourve. The lourve is too big to finish seeing everything in a day.
7. Walk down Mouffettard, this street near Place Monge, metro line 7. There's many cool cafes along the street. Yeejia and I once had breakfast at The Quotidien, which is this cafe at the end of Mouffetard and it was really quite good. Highly recommended by Jilyn. But a meal there would set you back by around 10euros....might not be that worth it. And there's many good boulangers there...so can grab baguettes or french pastries from that place.
8. For night spots, go to Eiffel, Lourve and Montmarte, where Sacre Coeur is. The views are nice. And if weather is really good...as it has been for the last 2 days, go for a picnic below Eiffel. Get a bottle of red wine around 4euros - that should ensure quality wine - and bring baguettes and ham along.
There are many other things that are nice to see or do in Paris but I have no more time to write on already else I'm gg to miss my flight. I'm sure Jiaxin will be able to give you guys more suggestions.
Basically, most important thing is to not try and see everything. Just walk, and walk slowly.
Hope you guys have a Lickadorique time in Paris!
Hope I can still recognize my room when I return...haha...
