BDE and our internet
School has begun. In 20min time, I'll be at the computer lab next door learning Scilab, which is very much similar to Mathlab.
I am blogging in school now because my room still doesn't have internet connection. We have to sign up first with the Bureau des Eleves (BDE), which is our school's equivalent of NUSSU, before we get internet access. This, I must say, is very smart of BDE because to sign up with them means we pay them 50euros a year. And since internet nowadays is pretty much indispensible, most pple can't quite live without the net, we can imagine how much BDE is earning off us.
The JCRCs in NUS could very well do the same as BDE. ''Hostel fees do not pay for your internet connection. To gain access to internet, pay us a nominal sum of 50 dollars a year and we will get it fixed for you.'' Gone will be the miserable days of canvassing for money since all the halls will be rich enough. Sounds good, ya?
Actually, BDE's not that evil lah. No time to write more bout it now...will continue with the story when I have paid my 50euros. Ciao.
