John Carpenter

The long-running cqmi (can't quite make it) French version of 'Wheel of Fortune' on TF1 was replaced by 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' two weeks ago. My roommate and I are big fans of the latter after having watched on Youtube a French contestant famously answered 'The Sun' when asked 'What rotates around Earth?'. The ignorance of one can so be the source of joy of another.

The poor contestant had asked the public for help, and 56% of them answered 'The Sun'. He, like most others before him, 跟随观众 which in this case wasn't the best decision. Clearly, following the majority is not always wise and this example reflects also the pitfall of democracy which occurs when the majority doesn't know it doesn't know.

I youtubed 'Qui veut gagner des millions' (the French title for 'Who wants to be a millionaire') and this was the first result that was returned. I have heard stories about the legendary first winner of the game show but never found out for myself if they were true. Apparently, they were.
